  5. The corneal and pupil diameters can 
  6. be measured using a mm rule.  The 
  7. pupil diameter is usually measured 
  8. in average room illumination.

  10. More accurate measurements can be 
  11. made using a reticule in the eyepiece 
  12. of the biomicroscope or by using a 
  13. known slit or aperture size on the 
  14. biomicroscope (using the scale on 
  15. the instrument which indicates the 
  16. size).  Other techniques for more 
  17. accurately measuring these 
  18. dimensions can be used but are 
  19. not generally necessary in clinical 
  20. practice.
